  • Ways to improve user adoption of SharePoint Intranet

Many corporates struggle to get proper ROI on their SharePoint investment due to the reduced number of user adoption to SharePoint. Poor designing is one of the major for this drop. Below are some simple steps which you can perform to identify design related issues

  1. Monitor SharePoint: Analyse your SharePoint to identify the most annoying heavy pages which user feels hard to handle.
  2. Analyse UI: Look for overloaded pages in SharePoint, unused web parts, irrelevant information pounded to the audience, non-performing web parts, page fillers etc.
  3. Employee Feedback: Get employee feedback to understand the reason for the poor adoption of the intranet. Do probe to get the details of the employee’s expectations and needs.

With the results gathered from the above three analyses start to take constructive actions. Re-design your intranet to have better user adoption. Below are some of the options for delivering a modern, customized, user-friendly intranet experience which would improvise the rate of user adoption to your SharePoint Intranet.

  1. Migrate your outdated intranet from an older version of SharePoint to the latest preferably to cloud to be on top of technology always using auto upgrade feature and larger customization capabilities.
  2. Revamp design patterns to make your intranet look more engaging, on context and user-friendly.
  3. Apply your corporate branding and theming to make employees feel native on the design and close to their heart.
  4. Add custom web parts to adapt to your business need. E.g. Add details of company shares in the Stock Market for Finance department.
  5. Bring social vibes to your intranet by creating add-in like employee birthday reminders, personal To-Do Manager, Ideation to propose constructive ideas, Social media web part to show the latest news update about the office in social media and integration of Yammer/Microsoft teams etc.
  6. Think about mobile users and deliver a responsive design to your employees so they can use their internet where ever they needed.
