Slack has various applications integrated for incident management. When an incident is created, the incident is taken into the Slack channel and the respective users are added to the channel for resolving the incident. Once the incident is resolved, the users can close the incident either from the incident management application or directly from Slack.   

When you migrate from Slack to Teams, you worry about migrating the data and getting the same or similar integration in MS Teams also. But your worry should end here!

What is the Incident Management integration solution while migrating to MS Teams?

To provide a similar incident management integration solution as in the Slack workspace to the Teams users, we integrate any third-party incident management application like ServiceNow, Zendesk, Jira ServiceDesk, etc. in MS Teams. We make Teams interact with the third-party application by using Web Part and fetch all the incidents that are created in Teams. This gets displayed inside Teams.  

You need to decide on where incident management should happen.  

1. Single shared group channel 

You can have all the users who are associated with the incident here. You can have the tech team or the development team on this channel as it creates wider visibility for the incidents to be resolved.  

2. Per-Incident channel 

We can create each incident as a separate private channel and add all the users that are associated with the particular incident as members of the private channel so they can collaborate and resolve the incident. Once resolved they can either close directly from Teams or can close the incident using the incident management application.   

What do we do when MS Teams reaches the maximum limit of 200 Teams channels?

We automatically create another Teams. Once the incident is closed, we usually archive those channels, extract them as HTML, convert them to pdf and attach it to the incident.  

Do we create a public channel or a private channel for incident management?

It depends on the type of incident. For instance, if it’s about finance and other confidential incidents, then private channels are created.  

For a successful incident management integration, we also have email notification and reassignment in our process so we do not miss out on any of your incidents and leave them unattended for long.  

Assigning roles and responsibilities clearly, communicating the structure, and keeping the process transparent are the key considerations to resolving the incidents quickly.
