Slack Incremental Migration

In this case study, the client wanted to migrate Slack channels to MS Teams channels with no disruption in the workflow. They wanted an end-to-end service for handling their migration issues. We resolved this using incremental migration.

Our client has been providing services to thousands of professionals at hundreds of companies across industries. They are based out in Texas, offering language training at centers and also sending instructors to companies for training. They offer an innovative approach by providing a custom based curriculum that fulfills their customer’s requirements and needs.  

They wanted to migrate Slack channels to MS Teams channels with no disruption in the workflow and looked for a migration service that handled everything in migration.  

Business challenges 

  • The client wanted a migration service for migrating Slack Channels into MS Team Channels. 
  • They wanted to get the inventory assessment done to do mapping of Slack channels to the respective MS Teams channels.  
  • They also wanted to ensure that there are no disruptions in the workflows and hence wanted to do the incremental migration during the off-hours.  
  • They wanted us to do the migration process after the office hours so it does not impact their workflow or productivity.

  • The client had shared the Slack and Office 365 service account details along with the migration server.  
  • Our AVASOFT migration service team started the inventory assessment and shared it with the client. 
  • Based on the inventory assessment, received the Slack channel mapped with the MS Team channel and proceeded with the initial migration.  
  • During client off-hours, completed the final incremental migration and verified the migrated channels.

  • Due to Slack and MS Teams throttles, we took over the full control of migration service and handed over the migrated MS Team to the client, to go live. This made the process a seamless one.
