IBM Integration Health Check

Our client is a leading 3PL logistics provider who uses the IBM tools to manage the integrations with their end customers, carriers and customs clearance which includes both A2A and B2B integration scenarios.
Reading time: 2 min(s)

Business Challenge

  • The client had the older version of IBM integration components like Sterling B2B Integrator, Sterling Secure Proxy and IBM integration bus to handle the logistics integration
  • Their environment had minimal configuration of memory allocation which struggled to handle voluminous file transactions and couldn’t support new client on-boarding.
  • Whenever voluminous files in the form of invoices & customs declarations pile up the server, the server went down automatically which directly impacted their business.
  • The older versions of Sterling secure proxy couldn’t handle the trusted certificate configuration for the end customers which results in lack of security for their EDI message transactions.
  • The older version of IIB crashes the execution group whenever it receives an invalid structure from client/carrier.

How Avasoft helped?

  • Completed fine-tuning analysis of their integration server, tools & database volume optimization scenarios to achieve their business goals.
  • Increased the RAM size for sterling & proxy servers and its content database planning the current & future volume.Upgraded existing versions of IIB and Sterling integrator. Upgraded Sterling secure proxy & its latest SSL/TLS version to increase security in data transformation.
  • Prioritized the queue configuration based on the file traffic of each customer.
  • Recommended to configure load balancing in the production SI nodes and set error only persistence level for all business process & turned off the UI logs to reduce the database growth.
  • Sterling integrator’s correlation set data were migrated to external database to reduce heavy database usage.
  • Configured standard archival policies & error monitoring alerts for failed file retriggering in-order to prevent data loss.
  • Configured centralized Sterling control center to monitor the scheduled services (E.g. Backup, Index, Purge, BP-Recovery) & network issues.
