The world is changing at a faster pace than we can ever think of. There are more advancements and updates happening every minute. Migrating from a legacy platform to a cloud, increasing productivity, and making the most of the investments are substantial for businesses right now.

When you are migrating from a legacy platform, you are migrating all the communities, apps including blogs, files, wikis and so much more to a new platform. You’d certainly be worried about the look and feel of the content in the new platform after the migration.

But why is the same look and feel even important for migrating to a new platform?

Users who have used IBM Connections for a long time would be comfortable using the same platform with the same look and feel. They’d also be resistant to embracing a new platform cos of the look and feel.  But when you move the content to a new platform, the users might feel lost due to the distinct look and feel. SharePoint environment is completely different from IBM Connections and there are no default options that will help you retain the same look and feel in SharePoint as in IBM Connections.

However, that’s not the case when you are migrating using AVAMIGRATRON. We retain the same look and feel and give you a ‘like-for-like’ migration experience with our migration platform.

Retaining the same look and feel in SharePoint after the migration

When you are migrating the content from IBM Connections to SharePoint, mapping the features to the OOTB features will never be sufficient to retain the look and feel. You got to have something more!

Our custom web parts offer the same look and feel of the IBM Connections environment in SharePoint after the migration.

Dashboard Web parts

Dashboard-webpart

IBM Connections Communities has a rich text box description field where you add texts, images, videos, etc. But SharePoint’s default site description has a character limit of up to 255 characters only. However, when you migrate using AVAMIGRATRON, you get a separate text web part for the homepage in SharePoint to give you a similar experience with rich text format maintained in the Community dashboard’s description same as in the IBM Connections.

When you add apps such as blogs, wikis, forums, files, bookmarks, etc., in IBM Connections, it will be displayed as a widget on the home page. Since you do not get the same look and feel in SharePoint using the default features, our custom web parts will help you get the same look and feel on the home page by displaying the apps as widgets.

Left navigation Web Part

Left-Navigation

This is primarily for the left navigation of wikis and blogs on your IBM Connections. The left navigation is used for easy navigation among wikis. Our ‘Left navigation web part’ will retain the same look and feel in SharePoint too.

In IBM Connections, Wikis have the parent-child hierarchy, and you have the feature of creating until the nth level of hierarchy for wikis. But we have a limit for creating only 3 levels of hierarchies in the SharePoint default quick launch. To get you that feature, our left navigation web part will create the ‘nth’ level of hierarchy for wikis in SharePoint.

Forum Web parts

Forums

In IBM Connections, Forum is a discussion platform where you create questions, topics, add likes, comments, etc. When you migrate Forums to the Modern SharePoint experience, there’s no equivalent mapping. Worry not!! We migrate the content to a list and retrieve the same look and feel using the custom web parts.

Here’s how like-for-like migration works!

We deploy all the custom web parts in the Target SharePoint environment before initiating the migration process. We migrate the content to the OOTB features and leverage the web part to display the content in SharePoint with the same UI just as it was in IBM Connections. We don’t require to put in our effort manually to make the changes in the Target as AVAMIGRATRON will automatically integrate custom web parts by itself.

Custom web parts and like-for-like migration absolutely free- No additional costs!

When you migrate the content from IBM Connections to SharePoint, you’d want to retain the same look and feel after the migration. To retain that, we put in a lot of effort, plan meticulously, and use custom web parts. But we do not charge anything extra for this. You only pay once for the migration tool’s cost, and we will do all this for you without any additional charges!

Support from the AVAMIGRATRON team to help you in ‘like-for-like’ migration!

Our team guides and walks you through the entire process of migration. Whether you have a customization requirement or want a new web part to be created and integrated as per your requirements, we will help you with it too. We will analyze your requirements and help you with the right solution.

Well, no more worries about migrating the content from IBM Connections as you’ll have the same look and feel in SharePoint when you migrate using AVAMIGRATRON. And if you wish to have the OOTB look and feel (default features) while migrating from IBM Connections to SharePoint, we will also get this done for you.

Seamless experience. Like-for-like migration. Same look and feel in SharePoint – Only with AVAMIGRATRON!
