Easy and quick guidelines to optimize your supply chain using Tableau!

Most of our client doesn’t find it difficult to collect the data from different entities of the supply chain, but having that in fingertips matters. Using these data efficiently to optimize your supply chain is a big challenge. Below are some general guidelines based on which you can better manipulate your supply chain data.

1. Combine related data for better analysis

You have data scattered through different sources in your organization like supplier data, inventory data, goods scheduling data, financial data etc. These scattered data has to be interlinked to produce a common dashboard to manage logistics better. This would play a vital role in avoiding wastes within the organization.

Agile BI solutions help you to spot the data source which you want to combine for better analysis. By considering the relationship between different data sets, you will definitely uncover the impossible opportunities of analysis. This analysis is very hard to achieve by manually running through voluminous silos of data.

2. Establish better interaction with your data

All dashboards are not equal, some don’t give any scope for interaction for the end users. These dashboards many at times bring in more questions than answers to the users who refer them.

While developing a dashboard you should be very careful to make it interactive as much as possible. Whenever there is a spark of a question while referring an interactive dashboard, the user should have an option to drill it to get an answer which sometimes is a better solution or a new idea. Interactive dashboard does satisfy multiple stakeholders at once by letting them filter for relevant information. There is no need for you to build individual dashboards to each distribution center, instead build an interactive dashboard which allows users to access and drill down the data of distribution centers to which they are entitled to.

3. Build a flexible BI solution

Optimizing your supply chain isn’t a linear function as the algorithms behind the operations grow rapidly according to the changing trends in data. Interactive dashboards are to be planned carefully to incorporate sophisticated model showing your business decisions.

A Business Intelligence solution that is flexible enough to incorporate user-defined calculations is the key for a successful optimization of the supply chain. Through these better opportunities, the supply chain expands faster.

4. Provide relevant information when and where it’s needed

Your stakeholders are distributed and are in different locations right from factories, inventory hubs, distribution centers, offices and even on roads carrying your goods. Providing relevant actionable information to the users when and where they are needed assists them to make better decisions. This further translates into competitive advantage.

Use a secured BI solution that lets you follow your security mandates which include user level access security. Leveraging “Author Once” model helps you serve the stakeholder the same way when they are at desk or on-the-go.

Follow these four guidelines to manage your data insights for better optimization of the supply chain.
