Using user data and information users shared on the platform (text, images, hashtags, etc.), Thinking About builds dynamic geo-location grids to track and show these social circles as they are being built.

Business Challenge

  • We began with the idea of building a social media app where people could share their thoughts and find people with similar thoughts and interests geographically close to them.
  • We decided to create a geospatial circle dynamically from a user location, instead of providing a static grid like most other geo-social apps. We also wanted to ensure that users would be able to share images, post images, view trending posts in local and global locations.

How Avasoft helped?

  • After defining the business requirements, AVASOFT addressed the business challenges of building this dynamic geospatial circle for users and displaying these social circles geographically using geohashing and the Google Maps SDK. User were also able to sort through positive, negative and undecided groups in the map and find the “thoughts” or interest the group was based on by searching through the hashtags.
  • To solve the cross-platform business challenge, AVASOFT suggested the use of the Xamarin API when building the app. This API allows for the app to be delivered as both a native Android and iOS app through its single shared codebase. We then developed and delivered a robust application by adhering to Xamarin Coding Standards and handling the massive amount of data generated using a NoSQL database.
